When Sullivan is not out gathering images and stories from around the world, he lives on Maui with his wife Caramiya and children Tristan and Evie.
"I photograph the patterns of ancient culture through the beauty of their customs, rituals and ceremonies. As the integrated fabrics of human intelligence we call culture continue to disappear, I photograph the essence and spirit of these ancient civilizations. My themes are born of my fascination for history, architecture and belief systems. I travel off the beaten path to those small hamlets of culture where the layers of tribe, belief and ritual still remain strong. I am transfixed by the brief moment of time when the essence of the spirit reveals itself. Color plays and important role in my photography.
